Derwent Coaches
The Derwent 48 seat coach provides state of the
art luxury coach facilities which we believe is essential for
a long overnight run. It includes video, toilet, hot drinks (for
sale from the driver) and access to a fridge.
The journey from Oxford to Oban is approximately
476 miles and often takes around 10 hours, but we allow 12 hours
for the outbound trip with driver breaks. The coach travels overnight,
getting the group there for the 6:30 ferry. It also collects and
drops the groups off from any specified location in the Oxford
area with no changes until they reach Oban.
The larger the group, the more economical the
coach option becomes. For a group of 30, Derwent would work out
at £76.50 per head. Although this is not lower than budget
air tickets, the fly drive option involves additional costs for
travel to and from the airports, whereas there are no extra costs
with the coach.

Transport on Tiree
The Island
School Minibus can be hired with a driver. The minibus is
available most of the day but there may be times when the bus
is employed carrying local people to the shops or children to
school (not applicable between July and mid August). We usually
find that we can work around this and that the school bus provides
convenient and economic transport for up to 24 people of any age.
Cost for trips using the school bus is about £15 per trip.
Ring 'n' Ride:
An 'on demand' minibus service is available
for anywhere on the Isle of Tiree. The modern, low floor, accessible
minibus has space and easy access for one wheelchair. See below
for further details.
Transport from Oban
If you travel by Coach to Oban you have the option
of hiring vans for the group. Generally the cost for a group of
22 will be increased by about £35 per head plus fuel for
a week. In Oban, Flit Self Drive currently
have one 12-seater van (under 5 metres), one 13-seater van and
one 15 seater (over 5 metres).
